"When Billy Batson speaks the name of an ages-old wizard, he is transformed into the World's Mightiest Mortal—Shazam! Billy Batson’s parents died when he was still a baby. The orphaned child believed he had no one to rely on and had to fend for himself. But one day, he was guided to the Rock of Eternity, where the ancient wizard Shazam waited. The world needed heroes and the boy became the wizard’s new champion, able to transform himself into an adult superhero by calling down a magical bolt of lightning. Now, whenever evil must be stopped or people are in need of help, Earth can rely on the power of Shazam!"
Notable Crossovers[]
In Legends, DC Comics' first Post-Crisis company-wide crossover event, Wonder Woman makes her first overt public appearance in "Man's World" as she joins other heroes in thwarting Darkseid's latest plan. One of those heroes is Captain Marvel. Later, in the story "Time Passages, "Julia Kapatelis recounts in her journal, "And, of course, Diana was fascinated by the militarily named Captain Marvel, whose own powers were supposedly derived from the gods of various pantheons. Who were all these others who claimed to be gods, Diana wondered? Now, for the first time, it seemed Diana had begun to better understand the widespread skepticism regarding her own mythic origins."
The Power of Shazam! story "Venus Rising" opens with Billy Batson dreaming of an encounter with Diana — which is interrupted by the wizard Shazam. A similar rude awakening is depicted in the feature film, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Wonder Woman and Shazam share minor interactions in the 2014 animated movie Justice League: War. Shazam asks her if Superman is her boyfriend and refers to her as the "hot Greek chick." When Shazam foils a plan made by the team, Wonder Woman sucker punches him and tells him, "You are a warrior, not a child." Shazam reacts, "She digs me." These versions of the characters also appear together in 2015's Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, but they do not interact.
