Mindy Newell was a "fill-in" writer at DC Comics in the 80s under Karen Berger when she was asked to write the last few issues of Wonder Woman v1. She left the position before the final issue, but not before securing her place in history as only the second woman to write for the character in 36 years. Joye Murchison was the first. Newell would go on to write for such noteworthy titles as Action Comics,Amethyst,Legionnaires Three, a Catwoman mini-series, a Lois Lane two-parter, and a return to Wonder Woman with a ten issue streak for George Pérez. She would do her final comics work for Marvel in the 90s before breaking a 26-year hiatus and returning to pen a story for the 2020 Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1.
