Grail is the daughter of Darkseid, a member of the New Gods, and Myrina, an Amazon who gave birth to her on the same night as Diana of Themyscira was born. She has clashed with Wonder Woman many times, proving to be a dangerous adversary.
History[]
Grail was born in secret on Themyscira to the Amazon Myrina, although shortly after she was born her mother fled the island with her. Little is known about Grail's childhood but many years later she would side with an inter-dimensional monster, the Anti-Monitor, against her own father Darkseid. The aftermath of the conflict resulted in the deaths of the Anti-Monitor and Darkseid, the latter of which was reborn as an infant child which Grail resolved to raise, fleeing form the battle ground.
Grail soon learnt that in order to age up and restore her father to power she would have to 'feed' him the power of the Old Gods and so she set about killing the demi-god children of Zeus including Hercules. The plan was working but taking to long for Grail and Darkseid's patients so they devised a plan to kill Zeus himself so that Darkseid could consume all the old god's energy and hopeful become fully replenished. To do this Grail befriend Diana's long lost twin brother Jason so that she could capture Diana and lure Zeus into showing himself. Grail succeeded in befriending the lonely Jason, becoming his lover, and persuading him that his sister and mother had abandoned him so that when Diana did finally find Jason he helped Grail imprison his sister and bring her before Darkseid. Once he realised his sister actually loved him, Jason turned against Grail and freed Diana who battled Darkseid. This ultimately still meant Grail's plan was a success as Zeus intervened to stop Darkseid from killing Diana and Jason only to be killed himself, with all his power being absorbed by Darkseid, renewing him to his former strength before leaving the reeling twins.
With her father back, Grail executed his plan to build a teleporter so that they could conquer Themyscira and enslave the Amazons as their new army, battling Steve Trevor and his allies at A.R.G.U.S. to recover New God technology that could be turned into a portal. While Grail managed to open and entre the portal to Themyscira, Darkseid was stalled by Diana who managed to draw out the spirits of the dead Zeus and his children that Darkseid had consumed to incapacitate the New God. Meanwhile, Grail and her attack party were defeated by Jason and Hippolyta who took her prisoner and held her in the same dungeon as Ares.
After sometime,Ares persuaded Grail to kill him which caused a fracture between Themyscira, Olympus and Earth which allowed the two prisoners to escape. Grail manged to launch a coup against Hippolyta and gained control of Themyscira, although many Amazons defied her and rallied to the Amazons Antiope and Philippus instead. Eventually Diana would be able to reach Themyscira due to the facture caused by Ares' death and lead the loyalist Amazons against Grail who tried to hold her attackers of by holding the young girl Izzy Cale hostage but was struck down by Nubia. Hippolyta quickly returned to her throne and exiled Grail along with the Amazons that had sided with her.
